Ooooh. I don't think I have a copy of NEWSPAPER, which is why I went with the one that I had come across, but the Levé one sounds way funnier (and rings a bell).

"Despite its mission to support French literature in translation..." first appeared, if I remember correctly, in Édouard Levé's NEWSPAPER. John wanted it included in the copyright page of all French books going forward. The original wording was different and said that Dalkey would publish no more French books until things changed, but of course that was never going to happen, & Dalkey continued to publish French books. When I pointed that out to John he just glared at me in a way that clearly meant "shut up." Guess he changed the wording eventually.
